David Goodwin was born and raised in Elgin County and is a sixth generation Goodwin calling the St. Thomas area home. Living in Union as a child and going to Sparta school, David grew up with the values of hard work, helping your neighbours, and appreciating local home-grown food, products and talent. David graduated from Wilfred Laurier University and also holds a diploma in Data Analytics from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
David’s family operated Goodwin Furniture in St. Thomas for 100 years until 1970. David grew up with a passion for local history and a love for woodworking.
David currently works as a Director for a financial investment company based in Toronto, but lives in St. Thomas working remotely.
David serves on the St. Thomas Heritage Committee and Continuous Improvement Program Committee. He is also a former member of the Old St. Thomas Church Restoration Board.
For eight years, David was the Chair/President of our local federal Liberal riding association and currently serves as Vice President/Treasurer. He has also volunteered on numerous federal campaigns.
David is running to be your federal Liberal candidate because this is a critical time to protect Canada’s sovereignty, economy and local jobs. We must lower the cost of living and make life more affordable for the residents of Elgin-St.Thomas-London South. We must also continue supports for seniors and the most vulnerable in our constituency.
In his spare time, David enjoys heritage restoration and spending time at his family’s cottage.
